5th Generation Thathera Metalworker, Mathura

The Thathera community of Mathura has been working with brass and copper for over 200 years. Vikram is the fifth generation to carry forward this living tradition. Each murti begins as a block of solid brass, heated in our coal forge and shaped with hammer and chisel over days of patient work. Our temple bells are tuned by ear — a skill that cannot be taught from books.
