Choose the right Poshak size

Compatibility by deity form and measurement

A poshak is measured to the deity form, not to a dress size. Take two measurements before you choose, and the rest follows.

Measure the form

Measure the height of the deity from the base to the crown, and the width across the shoulders. Both are taken with the deity standing as it usually stands for seva, not lifted or tilted.

Sizes are quoted by height in inches. Where a form sits between two sizes, the larger is usually the better choice: a poshak can be tied closer, but it cannot be made longer.

Differences between forms

A standing Thakur, a seated Laddu Gopal and a Radha Krishna pair are cut differently even at the same height. Check that the listing names the form your deity takes.

Where a listing does not name a form, treat the measurement as the only guide and ask us before ordering.

Seasonal fabric

Cotton and mulmul suit summer seva; velvet, silk and brocade are for winter and for festival days. The same size in a heavier fabric will sit a little fuller.
